Reader Testimonials
If you’re learning to draw or improving your drawing skills, you’ll want to own this book. Scott Maier is a wonderful artist and teacher, and he has encapsulated much of his extensive knowledge, artist intuition, and brilliance in his excellent new book. See, Think, Draw is the best book I own in its category.
Scott is the teacher I needed long ago. Many of concepts I learned by participating in “Drawing Together” on YouTube, live and recorded, have translated over to colored pencils colorings and drawings. I’ll never forget that livestream where we were drawing an Arctic Fox, when, almost without noticing, an Arctic Fox jumped off my page! We “snuck up on” that fox and there he was.
I just got this in the mail, but I already love the approach of the book. See Think Draw gives you several ACTUAL lessons by example just like you would learn them from a teacher in a classroom, not just tips and general instruction like most other drawing books.
Each lesson starts with a reference picture you are going to draw from, a list of bullet points of what you will learn, and the supplies that you will need. Then Scott details the techniques and logic behind the approach that you are going to use. Then he takes you step by step creating the drawing. It feels very similar to being in an actual classroom with your favorite art teacher. The book’s lessons take you from very beginner to very advanced, so I would recommend it for anyone trying to improve their technique and anyone that is starting out. I’m very excited to do more of the lessons and finish it!
